Frequently asked questions
What duration are the classes?
Timetable programs are designed to be presented as a series of sessions, roughly aligned with Victorian school terms.
Individual programs can be presented in workshop formats or as sequential sessions.
Follow Dancessence on social media or subscribe to the email list for notification of workshops and other events.
What is the format for a class?
Dancessence is a program of fun, active sessions to share the love of movement. The variety of music tracks evoke the many moods of dance and each session is built around a theme.
Each session has a warm up and cool down, with the main section given to the session theme. Isabel, the session leader, leads a physical ‘warm up’ that introduces the session’s movement themes before going into the session’s focus. In line with Safe Dance practice, all sessions include a ‘cool down’.
What should I wear?
Standard exercise / ‘active wear’ is suitable for all programs unless otherwise noted. Bare feet or flexible soled shoes such as ballet flats or ‘tennis shoes’ are recommended.
How much do classes cost?
Pricing is noted on the timetable and booking pages. Fees vary for casual / one-off bookings, packages for multiple bookings, and private tuition.
Concession, individual and group booking rates are also available. Plus, join the mailing list for notification of promotional deals.
Are all classes suitable for beginners?
All sessions have multilevel elements. All content is demonstrated and explained, with suggestions of how it can be adapted to suit individual bodies and moods. This format supports connecting with your own movement preferences and confidence. Contact Isabel for additional information about specific sessions or programs.
Do you offer virtual classes?
Unless otherwise advised, all classes are in studio.
What are the health benefits of the Dancessence program?
It is commonly accepted that participation in any movement or dance session can be beneficial for emotional and physical health. As well, Dancessence is designed and presented within Safe Dance guidelines advocated by Australian Dance Council (AusDance).
Movement variations are commonly given in each individual session and participants are encouraged to advice of any injuries or other factors that might affect their movement. However, to ensure your personal safety, qualified medical advice should be obtained before commencement. All information is protected by relevant legislation and noted in the Dancessence Privacy Policy.
