About
Established by Isabel Jackson, Dancessence provides programs of dance and dance-based movement.
The Dancessence programs include technique from dance traditions of Isabel’s experience including Oriental style bellydance, classical ballet, contemporary dance and creative movement. The dance styles offer a way to explore the world around us and to express our responses.
Designed around themes rather than a technique based syllabus, each program is flexible in content, focus and timing. All can be tailored to individuals or group availability and interests. They can be conducted as a stand-alone workshop, offered as a short course, as an on-going program or as part of an event.
Dancessence programs account for how little or much you are used to moving. They emphasise the joy of movement, for its own sake, and recognise individual experience and interests in a DanceSafe environment.
In each session, course or workshop expect to:
warm-up to activate key muscle groups
stretch and cool down safely
explore improvisation or learn a short routine
polish your dance style
get your groove on or let it float
learn a few more great moves
increase co-ordination
amaze yourself
